Temples and gardens in private

At dawn the temple paths of Kyoto are almost empty. A guide who has studied them for years leads you through gardens and halls, and a monk shares the meaning of what you see over a bowl of tea.

Ryokan and omakase

You sleep on tatami in an inn that has welcomed guests for generations, and dine at a counter of eight seats where the chef serves each piece as it is ready and tells you where it came from.

Craft with master artisans

In a quiet workshop a master lacquer artist shows how a single bowl takes months to complete. You try the first strokes yourself, and leave with an understanding that no museum could give you.

Spring blossom and autumn colour are the most beautiful seasons, and also the busiest. We plan them early.
