Sri Lanka

An island of many moods

Sri LankaA private villa pool among palmsA private villa pool among palms

An island that changes its mood with every hour on the road.

Sri Lanka brings tea country, ancient cities, wildlife and a long coastline into an island of manageable distances. KURA turns that variety into one personal itinerary, with no wasted hours on the road.

Stay in heritage villas, travel through the hills by private train carriage and meet naturalists who know where the leopards rest.

Signature moments

01

Tea country by private train

A reserved carriage on the hill railway carries you above waterfalls and through cloud to the tea estates. You step down into cool air and the scent of fresh leaf, and a planter's bungalow waits with tea laid out on the veranda.

02

Leopards and elephants

Before dawn you leave for the park with a naturalist who has watched these animals for years. If the day is kind, a leopard settles on a rock in the first light, the vehicle goes still and nobody speaks.

03

Galle and the south coast

On the south coast you walk the ramparts of the old fort as the lighthouse catches the last sun. Afterwards a villa by the sea has dinner waiting, with the sound of the waves for company.

When to go

The west and south coasts are best from December to March, and the east coast from May to September. Wildlife viewing is good in the drier months.
