Piedmont, white truffles and the table

Some tables cannot be reserved. They can only be introduced.

Italy is where the KURA table begins. The Langhe hills of Piedmont, a UNESCO-listed wine landscape, are home to the Alba white truffle, and our relationships here reach the hunters, cellars and families who rarely welcome outsiders.

From Piedmont the journey can continue south to the Amalfi Coast or west along the Ligurian Riviera, where private boats, cliff-top villas and unhurried lunches replace the crowds.

Signature moments

01

A truffle hunt at dawn

Before the mist lifts from the Langhe, you walk into the woods with a hunter whose family has searched them for generations. His dogs find what the forest hides, and by lunchtime the morning find is shaved over a private table, still carrying the scent of the earth.

02

Cellar and chef tables

Behind an unmarked door, a family opens the cellar that was never meant for visitors. You taste vintages that rarely leave it, then sit to a dinner cooked for your party alone, with the winemaker at the head of the table.

03

The coast by private boat

A few days later the hills give way to the sea. A private boat carries you past Positano and into coves that the harbour queues never reach, and lunch is served on the water with nothing to do but watch the coastline pass.

When to go

The Alba white truffle season runs from autumn into early winter. The coast is at its best from late spring to early autumn.
